PETER
KOWALSKI - Director of Photography
Shortly
after POOR WHITE TRASH wrapped, Peter Kowalski headed
to South Carolina to lens the next season of DAWSON'S
CREEK. For Kowalski, however, POOR WHITE TRASH isn't
just another credit or a stop on his way East. It is
a unique opportunity to work with the kinetic writer/director
Michael Addis and bring the outrageous exploits and
adventures of the characters to life.
Kowalski
seems the perfect man for this job, as his previous
credits include films and television shows with distinct
visual style and unusual perspectives: WHIPPED, CRUSADE,
BABYLON 5, CHOW BELLA, DEAD AT 21, DAWSON'S CREEK and
V.I.P.
"The
biggest challenge for me is that this is a low budget
film with a high stakes, big budget cast," says Kowalski.
"There
is a lot of creativity involved in making the film look
like a million bucks, so it brings out the best of the
cast and crew's work. Time is limited, the crew is small
and we are working with practical (real-life) locations.
Despite the pressure, the solutions are simple...do
not compromise the photography no matter what, to have
as little movement on the dolly as possible, shooting
the exteriors at the right time of day. Doing the homework
is key."
